Children's Author
Russ Brown is an experienced primary school teacher from the U.K. He was born in Liverpool and pursued a career in stage acting. However, the love of telling a good story, a great sense of humour and a natural ability to get a point across led him to teaching. His classroom experiences have highlighted to him the importance and joy of telling stories to children. He strongly believes that one of life's greatest moments is sharing a good story with his wife and two children. He has written several books so far, Daisy the Donkeys First Fare, which has gained critical acclaim in Europe and the U.S.A., Poppy's Planet! which deals with the idea of how fragile our planet is and how we need to think about the damage we are doing. This is all delivered in rhyme by Poppy the Penguin, who can fly!
Following on from the great success of Poppy's Planet!, Monsters in my Math book Tells of the issues all children experience at some point in their school lives, when all they need is a like-minded friend. Beautifully illustrated by Jamie Cosley and written entirely in rhyme, this wonderful new children's book will become an instant classroom and bed time hit. A new favourite for children and adults alike.
The Field Feud , it is illustrated by James Shaw and tells the story of Poppy and Daisy who are forced to share a field. You would think they would get along just like the other farm animals do. But you would be very wrong! Can they work out their differences and learn to live in harmony? A lovely children's story about tolerance and understanding which is perfect for sharing or reading alone.
Mechanics of Mechanicsville is a beautifully illustrated children's rhyme, again showing the superb work of Jamie Cosley. This tells the tale of a small town in Virginia rescued from greed by the wonderful, tinker-like folk, the mechanics!!
Russ loves to promote writing and set up the Story Starts activity to get people writing, can you tackle the 150 word challenge? Go on give it a go!
Russ continues to teach full time and is available for author visits to your school and clubs.
